How to Use Easy Duplicate Finder: Getting Started

So you’ve just downloaded Easy Duplicate Finder, but aren’t quite sure which is the best way to find duplicate files quickly? Easy Duplicate Finder is a powerful program that has lots of options and features, yet it’s true to its name and is easy to use. In this article I will show you how to find and delete duplicates quickly and accurately.

The best and the quickest way to delete duplicate files from your PC or Mac is to scan it with the CRC32 Checksum + File Size comparison method. This algorithm is great for a quick yet accurate search because it compares files using several criteria and doesn’t take ages to complete. Just add the folders you want to check for duplicates to the list of folders to scan, click on Start and wait a few minutes for the program to find the duplicates. And if you are worried about your system security, don’t be. Easy Duplicate Finder doesn’t touch files in system folders by default, so it’s absolutely safe to use.

When the scan is finished and duplicate files are displayed, use Assistant to delete, move or rename them. It’s quick and easy.

And if you’d rather go through the search results yourself, take advantage of Easy Duplicate Finder’s ability to sort files by type. That will help you to easily manage your photos, songs, videos and other files.

But what if you delete a file you need by accident? Well, there is no need to panic. Simply click the Undo button and the file will be undeleted even if you’ve already emptied the Recycle Bin. Just make sure you hit the Undo button before you end your current Easy Duplicate Finder session (basically, don’t close the program window if think you may need to recover any of your recently deleted files).

If you use iTunes or iPhoto and want to delete duplicate songs and photos, make sure you have the iTunes and iPhoto sync options switched on in the program’s settings. Enabling these options will make sure that duplicates are deleted from iPhoto and iTunes as well as from your computer, which will guarantee that there won’t be any errors and the duplicates won’t come back.
